Duplicate Family Record Book Issuance Service

Law No. 28 of June 30, 1967, establishing the family record book, as amended and supplemented by subsequent texts.
Prime Minister Circular No. 15 of February 14, 1989, on the simplification of procedures related to civil status documents.

The applicant must be Tunisian and married.
The request may be submitted by: the head of the family, the divorced woman if not remarried, or the widow who retains the book unless otherwise ruled by the court.
The marriage contract must have been drawn up within the jurisdiction of the municipality, either by the municipality or by a notary.

Submit a file including the following documents:
Death certificate of the husband for the widow.
Copy of the divorce judgment for the divorced woman and guardian.
Birth certificates of other family members.
Fees related to the issuance of the family record book.

Civil status service of the municipality or municipal district.
Delegation outside the municipal area.

Civil status service of the municipality or municipal district.
Delegation outside the municipal area.

Remarks

Remark 1:
Any entry in the family record book may only be made by an authorized civil registrar; no one else is permitted to make modifications or annotations.

Remark 2:
Civil status documents extracted from the family record book have the same legal evidentiary value as those extracted from the original register.

Remark 3:
Anyone who knowingly uses documents from a family record book containing incomplete or false information is subject to one year of imprisonment and a fine of 240 dinars.

Remark 4:
The legalization of signatures on documents related to the donation or withdrawal of human organs is free of charge.
